Lakeland, Florida is in the Middle of Everything

Lakeland, Florida deserves more attention than it gets.  It’s perfectly situated on a southern peninsula.  It’s almost at the center of Florida – north to south and east to west.  In addition to sitting between two popular tourist destinations – Orlando (55.6 miles northeast) and Tampa (35.6 miles southwest).  The City of Lakeland has its own appeal and charm.

Lakes and Parks:

As its name suggests, Lakeland, Florida has dozens of picturesque lakes.  Lake Parker is bordered by a park consisting of over 100 acres of native Florida vegetation.  The park offers picnic shelters, paved trails, a playground, tennis courts, soccer fields, a boat dock and more.  Lake Mirror is encircled by a sidewalk and features beautiful Hollis Gardens, Barnett Family Park, and several sitting areas.  Explorations V Children’s Museum is within walking distance, only a block away.  Lake Hollingsworth is also encircled by a sidewalk and a bike lane.  Florida Southern College is located directly across the street from the lake.  The Lakeland Public Library and the Polk Museum of Art are steps away from Lake Morton.  Lake Wire, Lake Bonny, and Lake Hunter are just a few more of the beautiful lakes that visitors can enjoy.



Near-by Attractions:

Most of Florida’s most famous theme parks are less than a one hour drive from Lakeland.  The Disney Parks, Universal Studios Parks, and Sea World are less than 40 miles north.  Busch Gardens, Lowry Park Zoo, and the Florida Aquarium are less than 40 miles south.  Legoland Florida is less than 20 miles southeast of Lakeland.


Beaches Near-by:

The gorgeous beaches of the Gulf of Mexico are west of Lakeland.  Anna Maria Island is a quaint but beautiful place to relax.  St. Petersburg and Clearwater are also a short drive southwest from Lakeland.  Some of the most famous Atlantic beaches are less than two hours northeast from Lakeland.  Daytona and Cocoa Beach have been immortalized in several movies.  Both of those beaches are a short drive from Lakeland.


Lakeland, Florida is where visitors can stay to be in the middle of everything, yet secluded from it all.  Anyone who wants to experience the best that Florida has to offer should make Lakeland their vacation headquarters.  Lakeland is one of Florida’s hidden treasures.
